About the Birds in the Book

The bird illustrations in the book, Glitter Bird: Discovers Every Bird is Beautiful, are based off of real birds.

The illustrator, Lillian Jones, loves birds and all animals and works to increase awareness and protection for at risk species.

I am in awe of Lillian's knowledge of birds. As we brainstormed images to go with each of the pages, she came up with specific types of birds that fit the meaning, sometimes in multiple ways.

In the book we include a list of each of the birds with the IUCN Red List Category. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List is the world’s most comprehensive inventory of the conservation status of the world’s species.
